The Fallen Boss Guide: Beating Belmont's Curse First Boss
How to beat The Fallen, the first boss of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse and the demo's final wall — what the fight teaches, and what we still don't know.
The Fallen is the first boss of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse — the wall at the end of the opening Medieval Paris arc and the final challenge of the October demo. It is the best-documented fight in the game because every demo player finished it, and it doubles as the game’s real tutorial: beat it, and you understand how every later boss fight works. Last verified 2026-10-12; damage numbers and HP values stay off this page until we can test them in the full build.
Who is The Fallen in Belmont’s Curse?
The Fallen is a new boss built for the game’s opening arc — not a returning series villain. Konami has kept its identity deliberately vague in official material, and the demo presented it as the force that ends your first run through the ruined streets of 1499 Paris. After the fight, it is sealed into Rose’s tarot deck — your first Arcana — which is the moment the game’s signature system opens up.

Where does The Fallen fight take place?
The arena sits at the end of the demo’s opening stretch: the Medieval Paris streets that form the game’s first area. The path there is linear — the opening streets, a few side rooms (including the sewer route where the secret Cestus weapon hides), and then the arena. There is no backtracking once the door closes.
What does the demo teach you for this fight?
The Fallen is a diagnostic boss — it checks the three skills the opening arc teaches:
- Dodge timing over panic-rolling. Its attacks are tuned for the modern movement the Dead Cells studios are known for; every attack has a dodge answer, and the fight punishes dodging early instead of late.
- Not overcommitting. Stringing maximum attacks into every opening gets you caught by its recovery punish. The fight rewards two or three hits per window.
- Using your full kit. Between your starting sword and whatever the opening arc hands you, the fight expects you to be attacking from the strongest position available — passive play drags the fight long enough for mistakes.
Previews of the full game describe the boss lineup as “surprisingly challenging” — The Fallen is the gentle version of that curve. If it walls you, the fix is almost always dodge discipline, not grinding.
What Arcana does The Fallen seal into?
Defeating The Fallen seals it into one of Rose’s tarot cards, granting its powers as an equippable Arcana. The card’s exact name and effect list were not shown in the demo’s endgame screen — official material has kept per-card details back before launch. Our Arcana guide explains how equipping works, and the full boss list tracks every seal as it is confirmed.
What is still unknown about the fight?
- HP and damage values — we will fill in a full stat card after launch testing.
- Phase structure — preview coverage of the demo kept fight internals vague; we will document phases and attack-by-attack timing on launch day.
- The card’s effect — sealed with the boss, revealed at launch.
Until then, the getting-started guide covers the fundamentals this fight checks, and the launch hub tracks everything confirmed before October 15.
